Lost Gloves
For the better part of my 10+ years living in New York City, I’ve photographed lost gloves. I’ve always been struck by their prevalence, sometimes finding multiple gloves during a commute home. A few years into the project I started an annual finders’ competition amongst family and friends, and then I started to pick the gloves up, amassing nearly 700 gloves in the process.
These days I’ve become more selective with the gloves I pick up. Having recently lost two of my own, I know the frustration and disappointment of retraced steps, only to return home empty-handed.
Below are a few of my favorite images and finds from over the years.
